The Calendar allows you to maintain your own personal calendar of events as well as view a System-wide global calendar and shared group calendars. The calendar has some very useful features:

E-mail reminders

You can set reminders to be automatically e-mailed to them as an event approaches. In addition, if you have a text message device such as a cell phone can have these reminders sent to your phone.

System-wide reminders/invites

When there are events added to the General Calendar you may receive invitations and reminders for them.

Group calendars

Integration with the Special Interest Groups module allows a shared calendar for a specific group of users.

Remind me! Links

This allows you to place, on any web page, a “Remind me of this event” link, which will let the you easily create a reminder for that event.
